Dendrometers are the tools used to monitor stem size variation of trees, both radially and circumferentially (point dendrometers and band dendrometers, respectively). The change in stem size is the cumulative result of the reversible elastic changes in phloem and cambium caused by transpiration and the irreversible xylem growth caused by the expansion of new cells[1].
